Parenting: Kids and Bullying - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Bullying is a real problem, and I think kids have always been teased in schools and in the neighborhood. But with the advent of cyber-bullying, we really have a problem with a lot of kids. It is our job to keep our kids safe. So, we need to listen to their concerns. We need to get details about what is happening and who is doing it and when is it happening. We want to ask our kids what they have done so far to solve the problem themselves. Depending on the age of the child, we can ask them: "What do you want me to do, as your parent?", "What can I do to help?", "What do you think I should do". Oftentimes, kids will say "Nothing! Stay out of it," but if we think our kids need our help, we need to get involved. So, we do need to involve the school staff or neighborhood parents, and we also need to teach them what they can do to take care of themselves.
