Trump's first impeachment - 2020

Trump attorney Jay Sekulow slammed House managers, who are acting as “prosecutors” during President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, for the way they have handled the impeachment process. “Since the president was sworn into office, there was a desire to see him removed,” Sekulow said as he defended a resolution that would govern the procedures for the trial. The resolution, which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell proposed and determines how evidence is presented in the trial, has been the subject of partisan debate. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office or acquitted.
